I used a Sizzix die to cut the circles, used some hot glue to hold it together, added glitter and now I have a BIG flower. It kinda turned out larger than I anticipated. LOL! In retrospect I wish I had put the glitter on the edges of each "petal" rather in the middle but oh well.....Mom will like it anyway!

I also used Distressed Stripes from PTI to make the plaid paper, added a glittery Raspberry Fizz button and a sentiment from Delightful Dahlia.
Figured I would whip out a card rather than put them in the scrap pile.... never to be seen again.
The paper is from Making Memories, the pink polka dot is fabric paper from American Crafts. The sentiment is from Fillable Frames 1 from PTI and the flower was made using a new Tim Holtz die.
I have missed the past 2 challenges so I am really glad I was able to get a card done for this week. I hope to go back and do the 2 I missed as I challenged myself to do them all. Here is Becky's challenge and inspiration picture for this week:

I cut my card using my Cricut, used a Nestability and everything else is PTI. Here is what I came up with...sorry for the glare. I am still working on getting the right lighting down in my dungeon.
I thought these embellies were darling and wanted to try my hand at them. I cut the NEW PTI black felt with my Big Kick and an old Sizzix die into circles, found some PTI buttons, raided my floss stash for some matching colors and did these while watching tv one night. It was so fun and easy! I added a blanket stitch to the edges.....haven't done THAT stitch in a looong time. It took me a while to get used to it again. I am pretty happy with the way they turned out...
After looking at it, it reminded me of PTI's Dot Spot set so 2 elements of the card were decided fairly easily! Here are the challenge details for this week:

Aren't those colors pretty together? And I love embossing so this was a fun card to play with!

Here is my take on the challenge:

I am sooo enjoying these challenges.....guess I should send some cards instead of hoarding them though huh?!?
It is great to be storing up a variety of cards for future use! Here are the details for this week's card:

I REALLY loved this color combo and pretty much stayed true to her design. I did not have a negative stamp (guess I need to fix that!) so I just stamped on black cardstock with Fresh Snow ink. I made the flower following Dawn McVey's tutorial here. I used regular printer paper, stamped it with Text Style II and then went over the pieces with Smokey Shadow ink. I also used some Ripe Avocado ribbon to make leaves.

There have been lots of challenges posted and I am very far behind so..... I took some time today to do a few cards and fulfill a few challenge requirements. Better late than never right?!?

First, I combined 2 challenges in one card....the Emboss Resist challenge from here and the favorite color palette challenge from here. I used Erin's colors and I just love them together!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 112px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh1V49RXk0oBanf0x_k5_vFJDgoY2PxqrQcBuzEkyhVcszChz_HjQNCrt2_9_FGKwZwE_yUP7I6LvUiZkfIJC-fl620K9VYOa_GCI_5X_p1SB6kfl9PIzyuqiULdqxvgVZJR-94bxFs_o/s320/6a00d8341c64e753ef0120a87633e2970b-450wi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436720566527185314" />

Here is what I came up with...(all supplies from PTI)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 242px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFp-cmdcrEtBIjVF5EdUzqg7GbizUgYGaYGDq9m5b6XERBpeXgKS_NtOkz1Sp_0NJPGTGwqS64IXFY1cLrrhJkScC5xyM-wKvjFbjvPSqqz0kZbJPNw344kirisSMyfRSNzlR4jpoqWl4/s320/IMG_2082.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436728958887609154" />

The image (PTI, Through the Trees) was embossed with clear embossing powder on Snow White cardstock (PTI). I then used a Distress ink pad (Tim Holtz) and a paper towel to apply the ink over the embossed image. Too fun!!

The next card was in response to the Paint by number challenge here. I used this color palette because my user name on the PTI forum starts with "B".

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 122px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOIKlkt1gJVQi02CSycsAeoNUL_2-vOBBcsGJg8Scdbq2LheycMJvTph5y62fmCo2YQJnO6-LMxgd7Qj2Tv2skV8rmmgqd32-N5CDBAtdqzTjoHYHdMe_pONE2vqJ386CiwHsFmKfA6PA/s320/6a00d8341c64e753ef012877728f3e970c-450wi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436722883364450642" />

And here is the sketch we were given...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 247px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwOhMTgbLzwnXfTygTH2SGyOe5w5RdolfXX9Gb_0gX8u-x2h3lO9aDszRsWdofEjEWxuhx5OpG0a7azb8bJLys92LbzGfVR3mGLWd_qHCSVVtn2XpjDXhAG1Tc9OEUtZvwFDVJX3tvVM4/s320/6a00d8341c64e753ef012877734db1970c-450wi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436723081634939954" />

I played around with this one for a LONG time.....I just kept rearranging where I wanted each color. I wasn't at all sure I was ever going to be able to make them all work together. BUT, I think it turned out to be my favorite of the day! Again, all supplies from Papertrey except the Prima flower...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigv88VBLBTSoVVPfZVVd9gIXg5GBbnUXuAnEdCjLMlW67ExNbwNOe47uxHrnYsq6tFg_lXTypHByK04l9mMIf5Yuw5m-4QfVLV5sKfq026_2uLDMgIUd0Ed1CJYNd5BYoqWhWqeQPmrlg/s320/IMG_2079.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436724423259335986" />

And last but not least, I did Becky Oehler's Challenge number 3 for this week (I still have to do last week's yet!). I think this one still needs a little "somethin, somethin" but am not sure what.......I am open to suggestions! All supplies by PTI.....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 238px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9C4aHs177n4yzvJWgH_4g8RrQI_wyh1Gkm-0B0ScwXSIVAOx7jdIaKTGFb7mCrxgURV8DglRVyol7qRp0hWvlBYx9nBOUqAnCI1bOoz7Tq2A_MoejSVA0ox0s6xy8q7iNSLZNhjQ0HjM/s320/IMG_2071.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436729959460963330" />

And on a side note....everyone should try the challenges on Becky's blog. She posts them every Tuesday along with a video and instructions. They are so easy to do! I have always considered myself "card challenged" so image how thrilled I was when Becky chose my card from Week 1 as one of her top three! Thanks again Becky!!

Well, hopefully you made it to the end of this long post. I have two more challenge cards to do before I am caught up. Perhaps I can do them tonight while we watch American Idol.

Thanks for stopping by...

SherrySherryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15831017008850033786noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7840192560561204407.post-29055616790264891592010-02-02T21:13:00.006-05:002010-02-02T22:44:26.472-05:00Papertrey Ink Anniversary CelebrationIt is day two of the Papertrey Ink third anniversary celebration! Today Nichole challenged everyone to make a birthday card using a digital image designed by one of the 2010 stamp design team. It was a hard decision but I chose to use Heather Nichol's image because I just love cupcakes. Here is what I came up with....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 241px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYCbFDXWziOPHDAjWzTUOpGkApafyTLVIVdDKIyMpb2StbIrpwYVkDmXWv5YrVKCcgqlLym8VF08aJf2gzqOamX16OJ91Jwxy2Bmp_EYImNY3X5FZ2FGdRhrub1YimmNXe8-nUnaSMt3k/s320/blog+016.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433837226306373650" />

The blues actually do match IRL...I have such bad lighting in my scraproom .

Thanks for looking!

SherrySherryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15831017008850033786noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7840192560561204407.post-10738272159593370502010-01-28T21:18:00.009-05:002010-02-02T21:29:36.716-05:00Challenge cardWOW....I can't believe it has been over three months since I updated this blog! The holidays always seem to throw me off. I am going to try to be better this year.

I made a card in response to this challenge. The stamp set is called Off Beat Backgrounds and it is so much fun! I then pulled out my Vintage Picnic set from Papertrey Ink and my Prismacolor pencils (which I have not touched in YEARS!) and used them for the center image. I have been meaning to try my hand at coloring with my pencils for a while now. I do NOT want to try Copics as I know I will want to start collecting them too......and I do not need another obsession! After using the blender pencil I was pretty happy with my results.

Supplies:

Ink: Black, Orange Zest and Enchanted Evening (PTI)
Ribbon: Enchanted Evening (PTI)
Stamps: Vintage Picnic and Sign Language (PTI), Off Beat Backgrounds (Waltzingmouse Stamps)
Nestabilities Label Four die (Spellbinders)
Prismacolor pencils

Thanks for looking!

SherrySherryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15831017008850033786noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7840192560561204407.post-11316401155155384292009-10-03T17:01:00.009-04:002009-10-03T17:27:41.315-04:00It's World Card Making Day!I just HAD to make sure I posted a couple of cards today since it is WCMD. And I was never very interested in stamping. Lately that has changed..........partly because I love the products from Papertrey Ink and partly because my photos are so unorganized I cannot find anything TO scrapbook! I am working on the photos.....but in the meantime I am feeling the need to do something crafty so I have done a few cards here and there. I have not sent out Christmas cards in years because it was one thing that really stressed me out so I just gave it up. This year I am going to make a few to go along with our gifts. Each one will be unique. Just sharing my first one...........thanks for looking!

Supplies:

Cardstock: New Leaf (Papertrey Ink) and Bazzill Basics
Pattern paper:Anna Griffin
Diecuts: Top Note die (Stampin Up)
Stamps: Signature Christmas (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink)
Embossing folder: Cuttlebug Swiss Dot (Provocraft)
Ribbon and button from my stash

SherrySherryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15831017008850033786noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7840192560561204407.post-65726250753540407512009-09-23T13:29:00.011-04:002009-09-24T11:12:35.720-04:00Keeping TabsI am seriously considering giving everyone on my Christmas list gift cards this year. The challenge will be to package them in a clever and beautiful way. So, I am again going to turn to Timeless Templates designed by Lauren Meader. They make your "gift wrapping" look fabulous and are available for purchase at www.papertreyink.com. This one is called Keeping Tabs. It was so much fun to do....and easy too! We bought $1 flip flops at Michael's and raided my ribbon stash. They turned out darling!! They get compliments every time they wear them. One woman told us we should sell them.......DD said no one would pay enough to make it worth her time as it took 2 hours for each pair! I hope to be much better in the future. Today I am posting the projects I did on NSD. I participated in the challenges that Robyn did over at http://thepinkstamper.blogspot.com. She did great projects and had very generous giveaways. I had high hopes for the day but alas I only got 2 projects done and then I pretty much copied Robyn's examples. Oh well, it felt good to be scrapping anything at all. I have been so busy and my hobby has just fallen by the wayside. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Sherry Holleran and I am a wife, mother of six and an avid scrapbooker. I have been teaching scrapbook classes for over 10 years at 2 wonderful stores here in the northeast Ohio area. Unfortunately, both stores have closed their doors. I still have former students who would like to finish albums they have started in my classes so I have been looking for a way to stay connected. I am hoping this blog will fit the bill. I plan to have pre-cut scrapbook pages, assembled pages and "online" classes available for purchase in the very near future. I am really looking forward to this new venture.Sherryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15831017008850033786noreply@blogger.com0
